I am trying to live my life with the awareness that 'the good old days' are happening right now. However making plans and sticking to them is harder than it seems. We are adults now. Everyone has their own unique schedules and responsibilities. The work, washing and dirty plates soon pile up and the small amount of money you did have has been spent on bus tickets and takeaways.

Yet memories are still made.

➡ Sitting on the stairs with tired, mascara stained, eyes, chatting about everything and anything - deep and shallow, absurd hypotheticals and emotional problem solving.

➡ Mad dancing in the kitchen with reckless abandon or else trying to learn the dances of some of our favourite K-pop idols.

➡ Supporting a friend at a dance competition - legs shaking with sympathetic adrenaline, filling with pride at the sight of her confident movements. Screaming in support with every fibre of my being. Knowing it is something she was clearly born to do. People gathering around to watch others dance passionately to the beat, dragging their friends to the middle knowing they want to dance but are acting shy.

➡ Late night drives to nowhere, singing and laughing our hearts out in country lanes, lit only by headlights.

➡ Screaming at full volume about made up characters in made up situations, of which we are clearly invested in.

The majority of these things are spontaneous. They remind me I am alive and what it is to be human. In these moments I am not worrying about my assignments or what the rest of my life will look like or even that I am going to die one day. It is important to be able to plan and look forward to things - but I've found, like this, that a lot of joy can be found in spontaneity. I'm grateful to all the people who are making these years 'the good old days' - without them they'd just be days.
