It's like life is a series of tick boxes.
We struggle against the pressure, racing to complete things so we measure up to the people around us. As if once we tick off this next thing, then the next thing and the next thing you can be happy and your life will be perfect. All because you've ticked all the boxes on the to-do list of a stereotypical happy life. You can try to keep ticking the boxes but the boxes will never run out. There is always a next thing. Something more. Your life but new and improved with this next box ticked; to-do list completed.
We cannot ever truly be happy if we only focus on checking these boxes. We must learn to slow down. Enjoy each box while it lasts if you insist on completing them. Take detours. Make your own boxes or scrap them completely.
You are in charge of your own life. What do you really want? Not what you want so that your life is pleasing to observe by others on the outside. What are your boxes? We are born into this world alone and we will die alone. Enjoy your own company, love yourself, know yourself without others input.
Make your boxes, enjoy them in the moment and if it makes YOU happy check them off.
Be happy.
